About the teachers

This is the Iyengar Yoga certification mark. Only fully qualified and insured Iyengar Yoga teachers who maintain their teaching practice at the highest level can display this logo and teach Iyengar Yoga. Trademark used with the permission of Mr Iyengar.
The teachers below are qualified and insured members of the UK Iyengar Teachers Association and also have membership of either one of the Scottish Institutes for Iyengar Yoga.
Fiona SarjeantFiona began her practice of Iyengar Yoga in 1985 attending classes in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness. She holds both the Introductory level (1995) and Junior Intermediate level 3 (2003) teaching certificates of the UK Iyengar Teachers Association (IYA UK). She was fortunate enough to study with the Iyengar family in Pune, India in 2005 and regularly attends workshops with senior teachers in the UK and abroad. She has a particular interest in the benefits of yoga for pregnancy and also the therapeutic role it can play for a variety of health conditions. | Donna LawDonna started Iyengar yoga in 1987, studying under the guidance of Ailsa Peck in Inverness and the Edinburgh Iyengar Yoga Centre. Donna gained her Introductory Level Certificate in 1995 and has been teaching ever since. She has studied over the years with many Iyengar teachers but in July 2005 spent one month in Pune, India studying at the Ramamani Iyengar Yoga Institute which was a life changing experience. Her passion for yoga compliments her work as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist by enhancing an understanding of the mind and body connection. | | Hazel MarrHazel's interest in yoga and its link with physical, mental and spiritual well-being, stretches back over 20 years. She studied under various teachers and different styles of yoga until, following a sports injury in 1996, she discovered the therapeutic effects of Iyengar yoga.. Hazel trained as an Introductory teacher with the Iyengar Centre in Edinburgh and qualified in 2006. Hazel also teaches Mum & Baby Yoga classes and regularly teaches yoga based activity and relaxation classes in primary and secondary schools in and around Inverness. | Fiona GarnerFiona qualified as an introductory level teacher in 1995 having undertaken training with Anke van Beveren in Aberdeen and the Edinburgh Iyengar Yoga Centre. She ran classes in Orkney prior to moving to Inverness a few years ago. | | Teresa BergTeresa has been practising Iyengar Yoga for over 10 years and is convinced of its ability to positively tranform daily life. She qualified as an introductory level teacher in 2008 having trained with Cle Souren in Amsterdam. Teresa has studied with the Iyengar family in Pune and she regularly visits Amsterdam and Edinburgh to continue her studies with senior teachers. | | | | | |
